Matthew Tucker
Matthew Tucker's murder wasn't filmed. He was an 18 year old killed by police on May 4th, 2016.
He didn't get a hashtag, his story wasn't told.
His brother, Micheal Shawn Tucker, who is a journalist, tells the story to the Washington Post:
Matthew was struggling in life, and had recently broken up with his girlfriend. He called the police, afraid by his own suicidal thoughts.
Officers arrived at their home, and the whole family welcomed them.
Nones of the officers talked to Matthew's mother to understand better the situation. They didn't call for backup, and they didn't secure the scene. They simply followed the mother to the garage, where they saw Matthew, holding a knife, sad and sobbing, close to commiting.
They ordrered Tucker to drop the knife, which he didn't do. Instead of calling for crisis intervention, instead of listening to the cries of his mother begging for them not to shoot her son, they pulled out their guns and shot multiple times.
Micheal's sister and 1 year old niece heard them.
He was still alive at the scene, calling for his mother.
The media claimed that the suicidal teen was threatening the officers with his knife and claimed it was self-defense from them.
The officers' names are Rosa Calderon and Micheal Hamilton.
None of the officers were charged for the murder of Matthew.
