What is the movement BLM REALLY about?
You have probably heard of the movement Black Lives Matter and everything happening in the world right now. But many people don't know what BLM is really about.
First off, we are NOT terrorists or whatever the media is calling us now. We try to be as peaceful as possible, and still we are portrayed as the "bad guys". Truth is, the media only shows YOU the violence and riots. Have you noticed that media coverage has pratically dissapeared but protests are still happening?
Our one and only goal is justice and equality for black people. RACISM STILL EXISTS, AND IT'S EVERYWHERE. The reason we don't "see" it that much is because white people refuse to see their privilege. We have to realise how black people are less privileged than us and use our privilege for good.
Why not all lives matter then? We aren't saying all lives don't matter, we are focusing on the opressed and trying to help those in need. We aren't saying that the white people all have great lives and aren't bullied or whatever. We are saying that the color of your skin will NEVER be the reason you fear going for a walk at night. The reason you fear the police. The reason you aren't accepted in schools or jobs.
Why not blue lives matter then? "Race" and profession aren't the same. You chose to wear this blue suit, you did not choose the color of your skin.
The movement started as a hashtag after the death of Trayvon Martin, in 2013, whose story is featured in this website. Now, it's amovement, an organisation. We stand by ALL black lives, and we will not stop until equality and justice is served.
