Alton Sterling

Alton Sterling was a 37-year-old man who sold CDs. He was killed on July 5th of 2016 and still no charge against the police officers.
Alton was known as CD Man in Baton Rouge, where he grew up and lived during all his life. He was sadly involved with drugs including cocaine and alcohol.
At 12:35 AM on July 5th of 2016, Alton was detained by two officers, named Blane Salamoni and Howie Lake II. They came after getting a call from someone who reported he was threatening him and carried a gun.
There had been a lot of robberies in the area, and that is why Alton carried a gun, according to the shop owner of where Sterling sold CDs.
When the police arrived, there was no gun in his hands. The officers tasered him multiple times and forced him to the ground. He was pinned down: One officer was kneeling on his chest, and the other on his thighs, trying to control his arms. He tried to get his hands free, so he tried to move them around. The officers thought he was going to pull out a gun and so they shot him six times in close range.
The day after the shooting, a video of witnesses came out and showed that Sterling never wieled the gun or threatened the policemen. A lot of protests followed the shooting, which started peacefully with putting flowers under a graffitti of Alton, but began to grow violently, until Gavin Eugene Long killed 3 policemen and was killed shortly after.
March of 2018, Landry's office declared that they will not charge the officers with anything, because they acted in a "reasonable and justifiable manner". To this day, they walk free, and Alton still did not get the justice he deserves.
